Meet the Founder
Chapaka Creations was founded by Dr. Helvi Itenge Wheeler, an author, educator, and literacy researcher passionate about expanding access to meaningful children’s literature.
Storytelling played an important role in her childhood, even when books were limited. Stories shared by family sparked her imagination and creativity, planting the seeds for a lifelong love of storytelling.
Later, as a parent and educator, she recognized the need for engaging children’s books that reflect African heritage and inspire young readers. This led her to create Chapaka Creations.
